How to Follow a Blog

Shanty town

When I started reading and following blogs I had a list of bookmarks in my browser. Every day, or once a week, I looked at all those sites to see if something new had been posted.

Sometimes rereading half, or more, of an article before realising that I had read it before.

Someone then introduced me to RSS, which I quickly dismissed as too difficult. Boy, was I wrong.

If you regularly read more than two blogs you should use an RSS-reader to follow them. This will allow you to go to a single webpage for all your blogs, which automatically updates as new articles becomes available.

If you want to be up and running quickly, I recommend Google Reader. It’s what I use.

In case you don’t have a Google account you have to register, and then you are ready to start adding blogs. And there are plenty of more user friendly RSS-readers that work on top of Google Reader (I used Feedly for quite some time, and only stopped after reading blogs on my phone).

You can even import your Google Reader RSS stream into most other tools. So there’s really nothing to lose.

What are you doing still reading? Get going already.

Start with adding http://havebackpack.com/ :-)

Cheers,

Daniel
